How else can you follow Springvine?!!! I know you want to…

During the busy wedding season I’ve found it difficult to take the time to sit down and keep up with a blog. Β Goodness, I find it difficult to keep up with laundry amongst my family of 5, so you can see where blogging falls in my day to day schedule. And it obviously has been at the bottom of my list for the past 4 months!! Ahh!!!! Sorry.

Those of you out there who do this daily, weekly, or monthly even, you are AMAZING!! and much more organized than I am! and I think you’re awesome. πŸ™‚Β

So, in the midst of my seemingly MIA moments, you can follow us on:

2 shoots in 1 day = a success story!

It’s been a really fun down time this year…and by down time, I mean, “non-wedding season”…because, it really didn’t feel like down time. I’ve been pretty busy doing fun things like, working on styled photo shoots!! It’s something that brings me back to my roots of fine arts. Every one of them (3 total, 2 being discussed in this blog, 1 will be later) was like being a part of an art installation. It’s was so sweet and made my heart happy! (Those of you artists who make your living by doing commissioned work, know exactly what I mean by “made my heart happy!”) While I really enjoy bringing others’ visions to life on their big day, it was really fun bringing some of my own visions to life! Which is why I love to participate in “styled shoots.”

~~~ A “styled shoot” for those of you who do not understand this term, is when we, the vendors, literally style the shoot… it’s not an actual event that is going on. It is an event that we completely made up and is often a way that we get to show off our sweet skills and talents! Or do something that gives inspiration and ideas. Gives a bride a feeling of freedom too, that you can do whatever her heart desires…it’s her and her fiance’s day! Run with it! πŸ˜‰
Today, I am only going to talk about the first two styled shoots that we did. We did both of these shoots on the same day at the same location. It was an exhausting day, but very rewarding all the same. And, we worked with an amazing team of vendors.
The first shoot that I am mentioning, was a very dramatic shoot, it was actually shot during the evening hours…so perfect.
I was asked to come on board sort of last minute. I had 3 weeks to plan, coordinate, create, whatever it took to get a vision and bring it to life. However, that really didn’t bother me…I do my best work last minute! πŸ™‚
When Crystal Stokes, with Crystal Stokes Photogaphy told me the theme of this shoot, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. The theme was centered around the “Art Nouveau” movement, along with an incredible piece of jewelry from Aubre’s Bridal. You’ll know it when you see it, it’s amazing! It sounded like an opportunity of creative freedom!!!!
I was excited to say the least. I jumped right in. My brain started churning with ideas…I did as any good American girl would do, and I started a “secret” Pinterest board right away!! I also decided that this was a great opportunity to throw some art inspiration up into the wedding world, along with jumping on the “gold” wagon for the year, which was inspired by the necklace!! EEK!!!
I chose one of the most romantic and perfect paintings to inspire a wedding, any guesses?…The Kiss, by Gustav Klimt. I will always try to inspire folks to know more about art and how it has influenced the way we think and perceive the world around us. The Kiss is one of my favorite paintings when it comes to romance, and it is so perfectly bold to go along with that necklace. It was the perfect painting to draw inspiration from, if you ask me.
This shoot was published in print in Carolina Bride Magazine, as well as on a popular wedding blog, Ruffled blog . It was such an exciting and successful styled shoot that could not have happened had it not been for every person involved.
Go grab your copy of Carolina Bride Magazine, April/June 2013 Issue, and turn to pages 76 & 77, check it out in person!! And, don’t forget to click on Ruffled Blog: Gold and Glam Wedding Ideas so that you can see the publication, or go to Crystal Stokes Photography, The Arbors Styled Shoot, and you can see all of the awesomeness that was created for this shoot.
Another fun styled shoot, that I got to be a part of, on the same day as the above, I didn’t style, only provided the flowers. It was styled by the very talented, Brandy with Mason Dixon Vintage Rentals. She did an amazing job! She also did the invitation (the stylist, table/linen rentals, and invitation were the changes made to the vendor list. You can view the complete vendor list on the publication. But everyone else remained the same as above.) It was so sweet and included the cutest little girl who is captured in a way that she seems to be “dreaming of her wedding day.” It’s really sweet, check it out: Style Sweets blog .
Needless to say, that was a very successful day of styled shoots. Very tiresome, but very successful!! I have one more styled shoot to share, that involved a different day, different photographer, different theme, different vendors (except for myself)…I think you get the picture… it’ll be coming soon!!! These two days of styled shoots are so different, they definitely deserved separate days of blogging. But both equally as awesome!!! Can’t wait to show it off next!!!
Wedding recap of 2012 (some awesome photographers too!)
It’s been a while since I last updated my blog, and I apologize. I thought instead of trying to do individual blogs to play catch up, I’d give out the links to some awesome photographer’s websites that showed my work…and … Continue reading
Barker + Wharton wedding
I was so excited when Jennifer approached me to do her wedding. If you have ever met Jennifer Barker, now, Mrs. Jennifer Wharton, you would too! She is the cutest, spunkiest girl I know. So sweet and has a smile that would make the most humbug person smile right back and a personality to match. πŸ™‚ So sweet!!
She is the only girl and youngest of 4 kids. God bless her! She has to be one of the toughest people ever to have survived that! πŸ˜‰
Her wedding flowers were simple and elegant.
Her wedding dress was white, her bridesmaids’ dresses were black, and she chose to use yellow as her accent color. Such a pretty color combination!!
The ceremony took place at Mountain View Baptist Church, in Maiden, NC, and the reception was at Verdict Ridge, in Denver, NC.
Check out these beautiful flowers.Β  I am in love with the yellow roses!!
Congratulations Whartons!!
Clark +Benson Wedding
This wedding was so gorgeous and full of sweet southern vintage details. The location of the wedding absolutely set the mood. It was so perfect!
Hailey is a coworker of my husband’s, she is a 2nd grade teacher and director of the drama department. Oh my, she is so talented!! Last year they performed “Beauty and the Beast” and I felt like I was watching the Walt Disney version. It was the first time my girls had gotten to watch it and they fell instantly in love with the movie!!
I knew once she contacted me that this was not just a wedding, it was a “production” and needed to be designed perfectly for her (as all of my weddings are!)
She had an amazing team of sweet ladies who were so willing to help her. So, we started planning away!!
Despite the rain on her wedding day, it was gorgeous!! And let’s not fail to mention we set up, took down, set up, and once again took down the centerpieces due to the wind. Outdoor weddings are absolutely stunning, but very unpredictable. If you are not a bride who can go with the flow, then I wouldn’t suggest it. πŸ˜‰
Enjoy the sweet photos!! Forgive the poor quality of them, they were taken with my iphone…but i think you will get the “picture!” πŸ˜‰ It was so sweet!!
An oldie, but still goodie…
Here is an oldie, a wedding that I did back in September 2010. It was a beautiful, elegant wedding at The Point, in Mooresville, NC. Such a beautiful venue with a gorgeous outdoor wedding location.
This was one of my first weddings working for myself…hence the title “Oldie but still goodie”.
The beautiful bride, Jessica, is actually my sister-in-law’s sister!! Practically family! And the groom, her now husband Steve, a beautiful couple. πŸ™‚
This wedding was absolutely gorgeous!! A beautiful day with a beautiful setting. Perfect! As you can see for yourself…
Trying something new
I love a creative bride, one who can think and wants from “outside the box.”
This past Sunday, I met with a sweet potential bride, well, I hope client, because our personalities just meshed right together and I loved her style and creativity!!
Her overall style that she is envisioning is VINTAGE!! I’m all over this!!
So, today, instead of taking care of my Swiss Alps mountain range of laundry, my creative brain took over.
This bride is wanting to use some handmade flowers along with fresh. Awesome idea…awesome conversation pieces!! So excited to dive in to this little project…and let’s face it, a lot more fun than cleaning or folding laundry!!!
And that is exactly what I did…here is an image of one flower that I created out of corn stalk leaves with a black eyed Susan center ….
Getting caught up…Jessi and Josh
Here is a wedding that I did back in April of this year. A beautiful bride and her groom.
I have had the pleasure of knowing this bride since she was 2 years old. It had been a while since I had seen her…well, the last time I saw her was when she was 2…until about 4 or 5 few years ago. I was so excited to meet back up with her while she was in high school (and I was working with Young Life at her school!) My job with Young Life ended when I became a full time stay at home mom with the sweet additions of our twins, and our contact was over facebook. Then some time last year, I recieved a phone call, it was Jessi, asking if I would be interested in doing her wedding flowers. Of course I was!!! Early this year, we met up at my favorite restaurant, that I got the opportunity to introduce to Jessi!!…Amelie’s!! From there, we planned their beautiful wedding at Vesuvius Vineyards, Iron Station, NC. She is definitely one of those sweet souls that I want to always know!…at least see on facebook! πŸ˜‰
Their lovely wedding, along with their flowers, by Springvine Design, can be viewed here http://www.lindseyturnerphotography.com/JessiAndJosh/
Lindsey Turner Photography did a wonderful job capturing their sweet day!! πŸ™‚
